Royal Blue is an embryo transfer by Royal Hit, out of the magnificent Betty Blue, an imported Hanoverian mare owned and ridden by Judy Smith. Betty Blue is by Brentano II out of a Weltmeyer mare. She has had great success throughout her career with achievements including Hanoverian Horse Society Medium Horse of the Year 2007, Berwick Dressage Club Medium Horse of the Year 2007, Berwick Dressage Club Advanced Horse of the Year 2009. At the 2009 Dressage Festival she placed 3rd in the Prix St George and was awarded the Victorian Dressage Club FEI Award for 2009/10. She placed 5th in the Inter 1 Freestyle at the 2010 Dressage Festival, and has now started competing Inter 2. Betty Blue is a crowd favourite at competitions due to her beautiful looks, beautiful temperament and impressive gaits. Betty Blue has a younger full brother, Brentanus who is campaigned by Victoria Welch from Queensland. He is also proving to be a very successful dressage competitor with many Championship wins at Novice and Elementary level as well as Young Horse Championships as a 5 and 6 year old.

Royal Blue is an outstanding young horse who is loaded with dressage genetics. The physical qualities also suggest a brilliant dressage career is in store for Royal Blue. All three gaits are excellent. He has a very good ground covering walk, an amazing trot with lots of swing and suspension, as well as activity in the hind leg and good knee action. He also has a very active canter that shows good use of his hindquarter.

The combination of Royal Hit and Betty Blue have given Royal Blue an exceptional temperament. He is very relaxed and friendly with a trainable brain and willing nature. His conformation is also very well suited to a dressage career. He has a fantastic front; great head/neck connection, great shape to the neck and well angled shoulder, beautiful through the body with a strong, rounded hindquarter.
